home-made playdough

One of the most popular and well used toys in our home is play dough.
The kids use it almost daily, we make our own and we needed to make a fresh batch today (too much dirt and sand mixed into the last lot) and I thought I'd share with you how we make it.
 You need:
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup boiling water
1 tbsp oil
food coloring (optional)
mix dry ingredients in a bowl and wet in a cup
combine the wet and dry and mix (a grown up should do this first bit because of the boiling water)
keep mixing until you can't use the spoon any more. It will be quite gloopy but keep going the more you work it the more like play dough it will become.
turn out and knead and then pass on to be played with...
there is nothing like fresh play dough to inspire play....
...by kids of all ages ;-)
this is Andy's best ever play dough monster...
And it can be kept for ages and ages in an air tight container.
Happy playing :-)
